I regret to inform you all that one of your members, Paul Wilbert, has passed away. I don't know what his user name was here [Roup] (he told me it was some triple entandra play on words) but he told me he was very involved in the brunchma community going to your annual meetings and might have been a member of your leadership.

Paul Wilbert lived alone and was found today in his apartment by the apartment security guards after being alerted by his boss to check on him after not showing up for work this morning for the 2nd day without calling. His cause of death is unknown at this time but he suffered from siezures and his death may be related to that condition.

Paul was a nice guy, his death is a complete shock (he was only 34) and has deeply affected all of us that knew him. I worked with Paul for over 2 years at Farmers Insurance Group outside of LA. He had told me how he was an active member on this board and I felt someone should tell you guys here as I believe that he may have had some of his closests friends from this site. Please repost this where-ever you feel is most apropriate on your site, I was not previously a member of this site and am not sure if this is the best place for it.

-Eddie Bradford

He'll be badly missed around here. I've never met him in person, and sadly now I never will.

Thank you for informing us.

For those who might not know, can one of the mods change the subtitle to read "Paul Wilbert (Roup)?" I'm pretty sure not everyone here knew his name.

Oh no....I'll miss him. He was a huge reason I enjoyed Wax so much -- he never let me get away with bullshit.

I'll miss him a lot.

I don't think I ever thought to tell him how much I enjoyed meeting him in Vegas.

Thank you for letting us know, Eddie.

Since moving to the LA area, I've been glad and proud to have Paul as a friend, apart from brunchma. I can't really say any more right now because I'm still in fierce denial about this, even though I can't see why anyone would pull any kind of prank like this. This just doesn't make any sense to me right now.

This is terribly frightening news. Here's hoping it's not true, but based on his mom's last reply to his LJ, it doesn't look like a prank.

For those non-epileptics out there, sudden and nontraumatic deaths relating to seizures do happen -- although it's mechanism is debated and poorly understood. They are relatively rare, but not unknown.

While I truly and deeply do not wish to believe he's gone, the circumstances described by Mr. Bradford are entirely possible and in keeping with what Roup had mentioned of his problems.

I'd like to thank Mr. Braford for having the forethought to locate some of Roup's less traditional, but no less real, friends and let us know.

Babs just talked to his Mom. He's gone.
Babs will be helping to get stuff sorted here in LA, so from now on she'll know more than the rest of us about what's going on. Since this is going to be a trying and busy time, you should probably ask her questions in this thread or in PM, and lay off the phone for a while.

Wow.

Though I never mentioned it to him, Roup was one of the first names I recognized here. I cut my teeth on WI, and most of all I'll miss his posts there.

I've had the chance to meet Paul on a few occasions, and he was as fun, witty, and eminently likable a guy in person as he was here.

Eddie, thank you for letting us know. Please keep us informed about funeral arrangements, if you can---I'm sure there are many people here who wish to pay their respects.

I am so terribly sorry. I was hoping beyond hope that this was some sort of unfunny prank.

Please give Babs a hug from me, Janric.

Also, I would like to send a letter of condolence to his mother. I understand that she might not want her address going out to strangers, but perhaps if I could send it to you and you could forward it?
